(small cup), resembling a small bowl probably inspired by the
porcelain teacups of China. Porcelain cups were first imported to the
Middle East from China in the sixteenth century and by the
seventeenth century they were already in great demand. In the late
eighteenth century the cup was placed in a metal holder, called a
