| Object's Name: Coffin & Lid Decorated in Relief, With Vegetal Decoration, Decorated with a human figure, Decorated with animal figures, Lion, Eros, Hercules, Semi-Divine/Divine Figure, Harp, Pan Flute Period: Late Roman Material: Lead Site: Bet Guvrin Lenght: 155 cm Wide: 55 cm Height: 40 cm Description: The lead coffin and its lid were found in a tomb. It was badly
preserved. A rope- like decoration divides the coffin into panels,
which are decorated with mythological, as well as geometric and
floral motifs. The two main images are Eros hunting a lion and
Heracles holding a drink vessel while riding a carriage driven by two
centaurs; one plays a lyre and the other one plays a pan flute.
An intact perfume glass bottle was found on top the coffins, lid.
Within the coffin were the bones of a female aged 17- 20 years old.
The coffin is dated to the end of the 3rd century CE or to the
