Description: A "grenade" -shaped flask made of thick greenish clay with facetted
walls outlined by incised lines and an impressed rosette decoration.
Another such "grenade"-shaped flask was found in area X-2 of the
excavation. These flasks, which are known since the Umayyad period,
had various functions such as mercury containers. It is not commonly
held that they were used as containers for flammable materials to
light and maintain the domestic hearth. These flasks are dated to the
Mamluk pweriod.
