An IAA policing unit, equipped with sophisticated electronic surveillance equipment, functions countrywide, round the clock to prevent antiquities robbery.
Major institutions refrain from receiving or buying antiquities from questionable sources. Since Israel, like other “Old World” countries, is a rich source of antiquities, the IAA often sends exhibits abroad and lends artifacts from the National Collections for long- term exhibit. Objects have been loaned to approximately 180 museums throughout the world, amongst them, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
