Conservation of the Citadel Wall Section |

The citadel wall is c. 125 m long. The facade covers an area c. 1,215 sqm, of which 1,000 sqm belong to the sloped glacis (70% inclination).

The plaza in front of the Tower of David was constructed in 1535-1538. It is part of the system of fortifications that was built by the sultan, Suleiman the Magnificent. Cannons were deployed on the plaza, which is surrounded by a low crenellated wall.
